Mass Observation - Recording everyday life in Britain

Original publications (1937-50 and 1950-70)

Publications produced by Mass Observation, 1937-50

Twenty-five books appeared during Mass Observation's original phase of activity. Many other manuscripts were prepared but for various reasons were never actually published (for example, three companion volumes to The Pub and the People about Bolton and Blackpool). The books have been listed by date of the first edition but titles which have been re-published since 1981 are marked with an asterisk*. Most of these titles should be found under Mass Observation in the author catalogue of libraries unless an individual author is also named.
