Love Letters and Live Wires
Weds 29 January, 2.30pm (film duration: 80 mins), £3.50
This selection of short films, made by the GPO’s groundbreaking film unit in the 1930s, brilliantly evokes a revolution in mass communication, introducing new concepts such as the post code, telephone and air mail service. The films, newly restored by the BFI’s National Archive, range from documentary to animation, illustrating the GPO’s contribution to workplace efficiency and world trade, as well as smoothing the path of true love.
This screening is made possible by BFI's Film Audience Network, with the support of The National Lottery.
